Overview
The MS-25F Fully Automatic Three-Knife Trimmer is designed to trim the three edges of books with a specific thickness and rough edges. After aligning the books, they are automatically fed into the cutting station by a pusher cart, which clamps the books in place. The trimmer then cuts the three edges and ejects the finished product. This machine is primarily used for cutting perfect-bound books.
It incorporates features such as pneumatic book clamping, pneumatic pressing, servo-driven book feeding, servo-controlled front and side knives, and a servo-driven main motor with an integrated knife platform. The MS-25F is known for its high cutting precision and fast adjustment capabilities.
Work Process
Upon powering on and initiating the machine, the book feeding mechanism transports the book to the pusher cart, which clamps it securely and moves it to the cutting station. At this point, the pressing mechanism quickly holds the book in place. The pusher cart then releases the book and returns to its starting position, ready for the next book.
The two side knives first trim the side edges, followed by the front knife trimming the front edge. Once the front knife completes its cut and returns to the original position, the pressing mechanism releases the book. The trimmed book is then pushed onto the delivery conveyor by the next book, completing one cycle.
Installation
6.2 Installation and Adjustment of Cutting Blades
A. Installing and Removing Front and Side Knives
- Machine Positioning:
Stop the main machine at a suitable position. Ensure the cutting edge is protected with a blade guard cover.
- Side Knife Installation:
Support the side knife assembly (with the guard still in place) and align the blade holder with the positioning groove on the knife carriage. Slide it into position until the dovetail slot contacts the taper wedge, then tighten the front nut. After securing the side screws, remove the blade guard.
- Front Knife Installation:
Repeat the above process to mount the front knife assembly to the front knife holder. Tighten both the front and side screws, then remove the blade guard cover.
- Test Cut Requirement:
After each blade replacement, a test cut must be performed to verify that the bottom edge of the book is trimmed smoothly. The blade edge of both the front and side knives must not be set more than 0.3 mm below the knife pad. A deeper setting may result in excessive machine load, potential damage, and reduced cut quality.
B. Replacing the Knife Strip
- Strip Removal and Replacement:
Loosen the screws on the clamping block, remove the existing knife strip, and replace it with one of the correct specifications. Re-tighten the screws to secure the strip.
- Material Recommendation:
The quality of the knife strip significantly affects both blade life and trimming performance. It is recommended to use only knife strips made from materials and models approved by the manufacturer.
